<--- ALL ZINES REVIEWED BY THIS GUY
I've
got a crush
Alright. This zine is the bomb and not just because there is a
four page interview with ME in it. It also boasts some wonderful
girl-stalking, ur...I mean, crush stories, by my favorite Aussie,
Dan Chan. This is the first issue, and it can only get better
and better. (But this issue features interviews with Kitty Craft
and Sweet William and The Autocollants and a story on 60's girlie
pop so order it up!) You can order this zine from
Dan himself at P.O. Box 229, Bayswater Business Centre, Victoria
3153, Australia, or from me, EBM.
Brute
squad/girl least likely to...
This is a split issue of two good zines from Jiggidy-Georgia.
Sorry, I hate doing fuckin zine reviews and it's 4AM. So, Millie
who does Brute Squad has a radio show in Georgia that my roommate
from Atlanta says she listens to all the time. Her zine provided
quite a few chuckles for me, especially her list of (mock?) Brute
Squad merchandise, like t-shirts featuring the following possible
slogans, "I saw Donnie Osmond throw confetti on a Harlem
Globetrotter", "I someday want to find a box of money",
"That just looks shitty", and "You call that a
squeegee? You got nothin'!" (especially appropriate in Toronto).
In Millie's latest edition of Brute Squad she also offers a hilarious
list of things to not say in front of her. Okay, April is the
lass behind Girl Least Likely To, and in this split she talks
about things she's scared of (like track 8 on Blur's Modern
Life is Rubbish), her obsession with Elizabeth Hurley, and
most notably, stories about this crazy lady who calls her place
of employment. Maybe she'll let me reprint them in an upcoming
issue of B and S because they are priceless. Anyway, here's the
shite-

Viva
la marines
I don't know what issue this is but its cover is so cute I want
to eat it. Even better, Erin writes about her love of Pokemon!!
She also mentions a wee crush on Kurt Heasley of Lilys fame, to
which I can relate. Hee hee. Erin chats with Seana from The Swirlies/Syrup
USA, Ciao Bella (yip yip!) and Poundsign. She also tells the sad
tale of the best show that never happened in Toronto, Belle and
Sebastian. You can order this zine from Erin at
139 Loyalists Dr., Welland, ON L3C 6A3.
Fuzzy
heads are better
Another Canadian zine! Yeeha! This one (issue 7) also features
and interview with Kitty Craft, so why don't you order both and
compare and contrast? Man, I love the way Patti writes, she's
rad. Anyhoo, she talks about her refusal to wear a bike helmet
(moi aussi!) She talks with the Secret Stars and conducts a very
funny interview with Love as Laughter. It's a handy tool as well,
providing a wealth of web site suggestions and a veritable cornucopia
of zine/label ads. To obtain: Patti Kim, Box 68568,
